Paarl Royals Squad for the SA20 2025:
For the upcoming SA20 season, the Paarl Royals have retained ten South African players, including captain David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, and Andile Phehlukwayo. Rookie players from the 2024 season, Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, will also stay with the team.
The Royals have released Dane Vilas, Evan Jones, Wihan Lubbe, and Ferisco Adams to make room for new additions. The squad currently includes Dayyaan Galiem, who was traded in, and stands at 11 players.
After a challenging last season, where they made the Qualifiers but faced five consecutive losses, including a heavy defeat in the Eliminator against the Super Kings, the Royals are aiming for a stronger performance in the new season starting January 9.
Kumar Sangakkara, the Royals’ Director of Cricket, expressed confidence in the squad: “We are delighted to go into the upcoming auction with a very formidable core of capped and uncapped South African players”
Paarl Royals Squad:
MI Cape Town has made a few updates to their squad for the upcoming season. They have retained key players Kagiso Rabada and Dewald Brevis through pre-signings, and also kept Rassie van der Dussen, Ryan Rickelton, George Linde, Delano Potgieter, Thomas Kaber, and Connor Esterhuizen.
The team has released Beuran Hendricks, Duan Jansen, Grant Roelofsen, and Neelan van Heerden. The franchise expressed their gratitude, stating: “MI Cape Town would like to thank [these] players for their support and contribution over the last 2 seasons and wish them the very best.”

More details about their squad will be available soon.
Emilio Gay has decided to leave Northamptonshire at the end of the season after declining their offer of a contract extension. He is expected to join Durham.
At just 24 years old, Gay has been a standout batter for Northamptonshire. He started at Wantage Road at 15 and made his first-class debut in 2019. Gay has established himself as a key player in Northamptonshire’s top order.
In his career, Gay has a solid first-class record, averaging 35.71 from 47 matches with 19 scores over fifty, including six centuries. His performance in 2024 has been exceptional, scoring 860 runs at an average of 61.42 in Division Two of the County Championship, highlighted by a career-best 261 against Middlesex in April. Gay has also played 39 white-ball matches for Northamptonshire.
“After the most important, and memorable decade of my life, this season will be my last with Northamptonshire,” Gay said in a statement released on Thursday. “Northamptonshire enabled me to fulfil my childhood dream, to become a professional cricket player.
“Thank you to everyone at NCCC. Hopefully I will make the club proud. Over the last decade at Northants there have been so many people who have helped me progress. I will never be able to thank all my team-mates, the coaches, staff and fans enough. Northants will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you.”
Northamptonshire put on record that they were “naturally disappointed” to lose a homegrown they had nurtured, and wished Gay well for the next chapter of his career.
John Sadler, the club’s head coach, said: “From early we always believed Emilio would become a high-class batsman. He has a great work ethic and this is one of the reasons his game has developed so rapidly over the last two years. It is a shame that Emilio’s future doesn’t lie with us, but he is very ambitious and believes a fresh challenge will be the best thing for him on his quest to play international cricket. We wish him well and will all enjoy watching his career unfold.”
Durham’s signing of Emilio Gay, one of the country’s most naturally talented batters, is a smart move for the team. Alongside Gay, Durham has also secured Will Rhodes from Warwickshire, who has opted not to extend his contract there.
