Mongolia Bowled Out for 10, Matching Record for Lowest Total in Men’s T20Is

Singapore’s Harsha Bharadwaj Takes Six Wickets as Mongolia Collapses for Record Low

In a T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A match in Bangi, Singapore’s 17-year-old legspinner Harsha Bharadwaj took six wickets for just three runs as Mongolia was bowled out for 10, tying the record for the lowest score in a men’s T20I.

Singapore chased down the 11-run target in just five balls, losing one wicket in the process. This victory marked Singapore’s second win in the tournament. Mongolia, having lost all four of their matches, remains at the bottom of the table.

Harsha Bharadwaj Shines with 6 for 3 as Mongolia Sets T20I Record for Lowest Total

Harsha Bharadwaj delivered a stunning performance for Singapore, taking 6 wickets for just 3 runs in four overs, the second-best figures in a men’s T20I. The 17-year-old legspinner made an impact right from the start, dismissing two batters in the first over and claiming five of Mongolia’s six wickets within the powerplay.

Mongolia’s batting struggles were evident as five of their batters were out for ducks. Their total of 10 runs equals the record for the lowest score in men’s T20Is. Notably, Mongolia now holds three of the four lowest totals in men’s T20Is, all recorded in 2024.

Mongolia managed to bat for ten overs, with partnerships for the fourth and final wickets lasting 11 balls each—the longest in their innings. In response, Raoul Sharma hit a six off his first ball, and William Simpson clinched Singapore’s victory with a four off the second-to-last ball of the first over.

Matthew Mott Joins Sydney Sixers as Assistant Coach After Leaving England Role

Matthew Mott Joins Sydney Sixers as Assistant Coach on Three-Year Deal

Matthew Mott has signed a three-year contract with the Sydney Sixers as their new assistant coach. This move follows his departure as head coach of the England Men’s white-ball team. Mott, who previously led the Australian Women’s team for eight years, will team up with Greg Shipperd at the Sixers. He replaces Cameron White, who has moved on to become the head coach of the Melbourne Renegades.

“I’m delighted to join back up with the Sydney Sixers,” Mott said. “Having started my coaching journey in Sydney many years ago, it’s a place that evokes both great memories and a comforting sense of familiarity, which I’m looking forward to.”

“The idea of being an assistant to Greg Shipperd, who I have a tremendous amount of respect for, really appealed to me.”

Matthew Mott’s England Coaching Stint Ends After Mixed Results

Matthew Mott’s tenure as England’s white-ball coach began with success, highlighted by their victory in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, which completed their collection of global white-ball trophies. However, his time ended after England’s semi-final exit at this year’s tournament and a disappointing performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Mott began his coaching career with New South Wales men’s team in 2007. His return to the state will see him work again with Rachael Haynes, a key player from the Australian team he previously coached to significant success.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Motty committed for the next three years with the club,” Haynes, Sixers’ general manager, said.”When the opportunity arises to bring a coach of Motty’s calibre into your ranks, it’s a no-brainer. We know what a fantastic resource he will be for our playing group.”

“It goes without saying that his coaching resume speaks for itself. He has an incredible track-record of success around the world, and he’s proven he knows what it takes to build, and sustain, a winning culture.”

“Our club is in safe hands under the leadership of Greg Shipperd, and Charlotte Edwards in our women’s program, and we’re delighted to be able to add Motty’s experience to that group, taking us forward.”

In the recent BBL draft, the Sydney Sixers successfully retained James Vince, despite the Melbourne Renegades‘ efforts to sign him. The Sixers also made a surprising choice by selecting Yorkshire legspinner Jafer Chohan as their final pick. Additionally, they had already secured West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein before the draft.
