Delhi Capitals (DC) triumphed over Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 20 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, thanks to a strong batting display that set a solid foundation. This victory intrigues the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Points Table, as DC joins three other teams with 12 points.
In the DC vs RR clash, RR won the toss and opted to bowl, banking on their batting to chase down any target. Samson reached his fifty and continued to play aggressively until Mukesh Kumar dismissed him for 86 off 46 balls, with a brilliant catch by Hope at long-on.
The DC vs RR match saw a thrilling see-saw battle in the slog overs. While RR found the boundaries, they kept losing wickets at crucial moments. During his aggressive knock, Shubham Dube fell for 25 while trying to clear the ropes. Ferreira, playing his first IPL innings, was trapped leg-before by Kuldeep Yadav in the 18th over. That over proved decisive for DC, with Kuldeep conceding just four runs and dismissing Ashwin, who was caught at long-on off the last ball.
With 37 runs needed in the final two overs, all eyes were on Rovman Powell in the DC vs RR encounter. However, Rasikh Salam bowled an exceptional penultimate over, allowing only eight runs and denying Powell the space to unleash big hits.
