In the GT vs CSK match, Daryl Mitchell raced to a fifty off just 27 balls. At the same time, Moeen Ali went on a six-hitting spree against Noor Ahmad in the 11th over, smacking three consecutive sixes. With their partnership thriving, captain Shubman Gill brought Mohit Sharma into the attack, who promptly made an impact. Mohit broke the 109-run stand with a clever knuckleball, catching Mitchell at long off.
Moeen Ali soon reached his fifty off 31 balls. Still, Mohit struck again in his next over, having Moeen caught at long on for 56 (36) thanks to a spectacular catch by Noor Ahmad. Ravindra Jadeja arrived and quickly made his mark with two boundaries in one over. Shivam Dube and Jadeja then targeted Kartik Tyagi, hitting two sixes and a four to reduce the equation to 70 needed off 24 balls.
However, Mohit Sharma proved crucial again, dismissing the dangerous Dube at deep mid-wicket and delivering a splendid 17th over that only conceded six runs. Earlier in the GT vs CSK clash, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to field. Gujarat Titans got off to a solid start thanks to openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Gill set the tone early with a well-placed four off Mitchell Santner in the first over, followed by a beautiful lofted six. Sudharsan matched the aggression by hitting a stunning six over extra cover off Shardul Thakur. The pair dazzled with their strokeplay, with Sudharsan bringing up his fifty off 31 balls with a six off Ravindra Jadeja. In comparison, Gill reached fifty off 25 balls with a six.
As the partnership flourished, the duo set a new record for GT’s highest partnership for any wicket, surpassing 147 runs. Sudharsan raced towards the 90s, and although CSK had a chance to break the partnership when Gill mistimed a lofted shot, Tushar Deshpande dropped it and parried it over the ropes. Gill hit three sixes in that over, including a flat six over extra cover, and both batters reached identical scores of 96 off 48 balls by the 16th over.
In a memorable GT vs CSK encounter, Gill reached his century first with a four through mid-wicket off Simarjeet Singh, followed by a celebratory gesture. Sudharsan also brought up his hundred with a six in the same over as their partnership surged past 200 runs.
The pair equaled the highest IPL opening partnership of 210 runs, a record set by KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock in 2022, but couldn’t surpass it. Tushar Deshpande finally broke the partnership, dismissing Sai Sudharsan, who mistimed a lofted shot to extra cover for 103 off 51 balls. Gill, who had scored 104 off 55, also fell in the same over, mistiming a heave to deep mid-wicket on the last ball. Despite this, CSK made a strong comeback in the slog overs, conceding just 41 runs while taking three wickets in the last five overs, as GT posted a total of 231/3.
In the GT vs CSK match, Ajinkya Rahane entered as an Impact Player, replacing Tushar Deshpande. At the same time, Sandeep Warrier came in as the Impact Player for GT at the start of the second innings. This strategic move set the stage for the second half of the GT vs CSK encounter.
