In the thrilling KKR vs SRH Match 3 of the Tata Indian Premier Leagues 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) edged out Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) thanks to a magnificent final over by Harshit Rana and a spectacular all-round performance from Andre Russell. Defending 13 runs in the last over, Rana’s brilliant bowling secured a four-run victory for KKR over SRH.
Andre Russell’s explosive innings of 64 off 25 balls, complemented by his two wickets for 25 runs, played a crucial role in KKR’s success. Earlier in the match, Russell’s six-hitting spree and a solid 35 off 17 from Ramandeep Singh helped KKR recover from a precarious 119/6 to post a formidable 208/7. Heinrich Klaasen’s sensational whirlwind innings of 63 off 29 balls had almost turned the game in favor of SRH. Still, KKR’s final heroics ensured they triumphed in this exciting contest.
In the KKR vs SRH match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) chased a target of 209, with openers Mayank Agarwal and Impact Player Abhishek Sharma, who replaced T Natarajan, getting SRH off to a solid start by scoring 60 runs inside the Powerplay. The pair struck six fours and three sixes in the first five overs. Still, Harshit Rana broke the partnership in the final over of the Powerplay by dismissing Mayank Agarwal (32 off 21) with a catch at deep square leg off a short delivery.
Following a quiet over from Sunil Narine, Andre Russell immediately removed Sharma (32 off 19) with a short ball in his first over. KKR then introduced Suyash Sharma as the Impact Player, replacing Ramandeep Singh. Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi added 36 runs. Still, Tripathi was fortunate to escape dismissal twice. First, he was dropped by Varun Chakaravarthy and then survived an LBW shout, which KKR chose not to review, although replays showed all three reds.
As the partnership built, Shreyas Iyer brought Chakaravarthy back into the attack, and he promptly dismissed Markram. Tripathi’s luck eventually ran out when he was caught at deep square leg off Narine. With the required rate climbing, Heinrich Klaasen hit sixes off Chakaravarthy. Still, Mitchell Starc returned with a brilliant over, conceding just five runs. Despite the late surge, KKR vs SRH saw KKR emerging victorious.
In the KKR vs SRH match, with 76 runs needed off 24 balls, Samad hit a six and a four off Russell, but the KKR all-rounder quickly responded by dismissing Samad in the same over. As SRH required 60 runs off 18 balls, Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed kept their side in the game by smashing three sixes off Chakaravarthy. Klaasen then brought up his fifty in style with three sixes off Starc, and Shahbaz finished the over with a six, bringing the equation down to 13 runs needed off the last over.
In the final over of the KKR vs SRH clash, Harshit Rana was assigned the task of bowling. Klaasen started with a massive six, followed by a single. However, Shahbaz then holed out to long-on off the next ball. Marco Jansen managed only a single off his first ball, and the match swung dramatically as Rana had Klaasen (63 off 29) brilliantly caught at short third man by Suyash Sharma off a slower delivery.
In the KKR vs SRH match, with five runs needed off the last ball, Harshit Rana bowled a clever slower delivery outside off-stump. Captain Pat Cummins swung and missed, leading to jubilant celebrations in the KKR camp.
Earlier, in the KKR vs SRH clash, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to field. SRH made a strong comeback during the Powerplay after Kolkata Knight Riders had started briskly. They took the wickets of Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, and Shreyas Iyer within the first six overs. Phil Salt went on a rampage in the second over, hitting three consecutive sixes off Marco Jansen. Still, the over was eventful as Narine was run out due to a slight miscommunication. T Natarajan also had a standout performance, dismissing Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer in the fourth over.
In the KKR vs SRH match, Salt and Nitish Rana attempted to stabilize the innings. Still, Mayank Markande made an impact by dismissing Rana in the 8th over with his first delivery. Ramandeep Singh, who scored 35 off 17 balls, added crucial runs with his powerful hitting. However, his charge was halted by a brilliant diving catch from Markande, who took a splendid catch at cover off Pat Cummins in the 13th over.
Salt reached his fifty with a four but could not convert it into a more significant score, departing in the same over. Jansen then pulled another superb catch off Markande’s fence to dismiss Salt (54 off 40).
After a cautious start, Andre Russell joined the action and began hitting sixes at will. Rinku Singh (23 off 15) also contributed as the duo smashed 81 runs off 33 balls, leading KKR to 208/7. Russell’s explosive performance included seven sixes and three fours, leaving him unbeaten on 64 off 25 balls in this thrilling KKR vs SRH encounter.
