Lahore, 25 February 2024: Saim Ayub’s explosive batting performance propelled Peshawar Zalmi to their second victory in HBL PSL 9. On Sunday night at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Rassie van der Dussen’s unbeaten century unfortunately failed. Lahore Qalandars fell eight runs short of the 212-run target. With this defeat, the home team lost their first five games of HBL PSL 9.
In the PZ vs LQ match, Lahore Qalandars faced an early setback as they lost their opening batter, Sahibzada Farhan. He scored 15 runs off 12 balls before falling to Naveen-ul-Haq in the third over. Despite this loss, Rassie van der Dussen showcased his skills, making a significant impact with two consecutive fours upon his arrival at the crease.
However, in the PZ vs LQ encounter, the Qalandars struggled as Fakhar Zaman returned for a disappointing eight-ball four, with Luke Wood taking his wicket. The challenges kept piling up for Lahore as they aimed to chase down the target set by Zalmi, ultimately leading to another defeat in the tournament.

In an explosive display, Powell bludgeoned the 16th over bowled by Mohammad Imran Jnr for 22 runs, featuring two fours and two sixes. The duo then formed a quickfire 39-run second-wicket partnership off just 17 balls, further elevating Zalmi’s innings in this exciting PZ vs LQ clash.
Saim fell victim to a lethal yorker from Shaheen, departing the field after scoring 88 runs off 55 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes. The over took a dramatic turn as Asif Ali followed Saim to the dugout, but not before hitting Shaheen for a six over the fine leg boundary.
In a powerful display, Powell scored a brisk 46 runs off just 20 balls, while Mohammad Haris, batting at number five, remained unbeaten with a quick-fire 12 runs off five balls. This effort propelled Peshawar Zalmi to a total of 211-4 in their allotted 20 overs during the intense PZ vs LQ match.
Shaheen was the standout bowler for Lahore, finishing with a three-wicket haul. At the same time, Jahandad Khan managed to pick up a solitary wicket. The bowling performances were crucial in shaping the outcome of this exciting PZ vs LQ encounter.
