In the recent intense match between RCB vs GT, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) successfully chased down a target of 201 against the Gujarat Titans (GT) to secure their third victory in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The RCB vs. GT match was highlighted by an explosive century from Will Jacks during the run chase and a solid performance by Virat Kohli.
In the RCB vs GT encounter, RCB made a strong start, with Faf du Plessis setting the pace in the powerplay. Du Plessis, who scored 24 runs with three sixes, was dismissed in the fourth over by Sai Kishore. This brought Jacks to the crease, where he formed an unbeaten 166-run partnership with Kohli.
Early in their partnership, Kohli was the dominant scorer, consistently finding the boundaries, while Jacks struggled against the Gujarat Titans spinners. Kohli reached his fifty off 31 balls as RCB scored 98 in 10 overs. Kohli’s innings displayed his trademark class and balance, and RCB looked set for a successful finish. The RCB vs. GT match seemed poised for a thrilling conclusion as the game progressed into the slog-overs.
However, the game took a turn when Will Jacks stepped up. Jacks broke the shackles in the RCB vs. GT match when Mohit Sharma bowled the 10th, launching a six-over mid-wicket. He then followed up with a four over the off-side. In the next over, Kohli hit Noor Ahmad for a six and a four, further pushing RCB’s innings.
From that point, Jacks took control of the RCB vs. GT contest, dominating the strike and showing a determination to finish the match himself. Although a Kohli century seemed probable at one stage, Jacks was only on 29 at the end of 12 overs. By the 14th over, he had closed the gap with Kohli, reaching 44 runs. At that moment, Royal Challengers Bangalore needed 53 runs from the last six overs to clinch victory in the RCB vs GT game.
In the RCB vs. GT match, Jacks delivered a stunning performance in the 15th over bowled by Mohit Sharma. He blasted three sixes and two fours in a 29-run over, reaching his half-century and finishing on 72 runs by the end of the over. Rashid Khan took the ball for the 16th over, and on the first delivery, Kohli scored a single to bring up his 500th run of the season.
Jacks then showcased an exhilarating display of batting against the world-class bowler, hitting two sixes, a four, and another six to level the scores. Heading into the last ball of the over, RCB needed just one run, with Jacks on 94. He secured the victory in style by smashing the ball over mid-wicket for a six, achieving a remarkable century off just 41 balls and clinching the win with four overs to spare. This thrilling finish in the RCB vs GT game was a performance RCB fans will remember for a long time.
Earlier in the day, on a warm afternoon in the RCB vs GT match, du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first. GT’s innings were anchored by B Sai Sudharsan, who scored 84 not out and bolstered by Shahrukh Khan’s impactful 58 in the middle overs. These fundamental contributions helped GT reach 200, a milestone in their afternoon home games last season.
GT faced a challenging start when they lost Wriddhiman Saha in the first over of the RCB vs GT game. Saha attempted to hit Swapnil Singh over the off-side but edged the ball to Karn Sharma at short third-man. Sudharsan and Shubman Gill then steadied the innings, reaching 42 for one by the end of the powerplay. However, Gill was dismissed by Glenn Maxwell while trying to clear long-on, with Cameron Green taking a superb catch in the deep.
Shahrukh Khan, promoted to No. 4, played a crucial role with a brisk innings. He and Sudharsan formed a vital partnership, adding 86 runs off 45 balls. This partnership combined Sudharsan’s grace and finesse with Shahrukh’s power, enabling GT to accelerate after a slow start in the RCB vs GT encounter.
Shahrukh Khan’s innings brought energy to the GT camp as he raced to his maiden fifty in the TATA IPL off just 24 balls. His powerful performance included three fours and five sixes. However, his innings ended in the 15th over when Mohammad Siraj bowled a superb yorker to dismiss him.
David Miller then joined Sudharsan, and together they guided GT to 200. Sudharsan reached his fifty with a four off Siraj shortly after Shahrukh’s dismissal. He continued to score rapidly, moving into the 80s during the slog overs as GT aimed for the 200-run mark.
Sudharsan scored during this phase, while Miller added the finishing touch with a six off the last ball to set GT’s final total at precisely 200. This was a solid score in Ahmedabad, but faced with a determined Kohli and a dynamic Jacks in the RCB vs. GT match, it remained to be seen if it would be enough.
