Riyan Parag played a magnificent knock of 84* off 45 balls, leading Rajasthan Royals to their second consecutive victory by edging out Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in Match 9 of TATA Indian Premier League 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. In the RR vs DC clash, Parag’s brilliant innings helped the hosts recover from a challenging 36/3 to post a competitive total of 185/5. His scintillating strokes were a critical factor in RR’s performance.
In the RR vs DC contest, Impact Player Nandre Burger (2/29) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/19) played crucial roles with the ball, dominating the Powerplay and middle overs. Avesh Khan then delivered a fantastic final over, successfully defending 17 runs and securing a brilliant win for RR.

In the RR vs DC match, DC lost two wickets in quick succession as Yuzvendra Chahal had Rishabh Pant caught behind in the 14th over, disrupting the visitors’ chase. DC then introduced Abishek Porel as the Impact Player. Still, he couldn’t make a significant impact, getting out too long off Chahal’s bowling in the 16th over.
Sandeep Sharma and Chahal bowled superbly in the middle overs, giving the home side control. With 60 runs needed off 24 balls, Stubbs accelerated the chase, smashing two sixes off Ashwin in the 17th over and accumulating 19 runs, which reduced the target to 41 runs off 18 balls. Avesh Khan bowled a decent 18th over, conceding 9 runs.

However, Sandeep Sharma bounced back strongly, giving away just five runs off the successive four balls. With 17 runs required off the final over, Avesh Khan delivered a brilliant performance, holding his nerve, executing precise yorkers, and conceding only four singles to secure a 12-run victory for RR.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to field. It was a significant game for Pant as he celebrated his 100th IPL match, receiving a special jersey before the start.

RR struggled initially, scoring just 12/1 in the first three overs. Mukesh Kumar took a crucial wicket by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over.

RR struggled to build momentum, and their situation worsened when Kuldeep Yadav trapped Jos Buttler LBW with a superb review. To address the slow scoring, RR promoted R Ashwin up the order, and he attempted to accelerate the innings with three mighty sixes. The RR all-rounder added 54 off 37 balls with Riyan Parag for the fourth wicket, stabilizing RR somewhat. However, he could not capitalize further. He was dismissed for 29, caught at deep mid-wicket off Axar Patel in the 14th over.
